This week, the KILOMETER.
This week, you will run 1000 meters without stopping. I'm not saying you will love it, I'm saying you can do it. And afterwards, you will love yourself.
It doesn't have to be fast. In fact, don't try to be fast. Just try do do it without switching to walking.
Tell me once you've made it. I love hearing about your progress. It might not be a huge step for mankind, but it is for you and me!
Also, if you're not getting your running in, tell me why and I might be able to help boost motivation.
Okay - I read this post this afternoon. I came home from work, changed into my clothes, and started my run. I ran a full kilometer without walking! It wasn't that bad at all!
ReplyDeleteI really, really want to do this, but Im a little nervous. I did my 4x500m within 30 minutes twice last week (even did a 750m) but during the last run I strained my calf muscle and 5 days later I can still feel it. Not sure what to do about that. Worried I will make it worse, but not wanting to stop and fall behind and then have to start from the beginning again.
ReplyDeleteLeah, have it checked before you go running to make sure you're not making it worse. But don't worry, we'll have you running 5 k eventually.
ReplyDeleteMootsie! Congrats!

The first part of the run is easy, I can manage 1,75 km without any problems.. however after that I get so lazy and can barely manage 300 m.. what to do? Am I just allergic to breaking a sweat?

perhaps you're running too fast? or are you lacking in motivation? I say make a mix with 30 minutes of music you LOVE and make a goal of running through it all!
ReplyDeleteAlmost, I ran for 20 minutes which equals 3km! But thank you for the inspiration, I have a feeling the last km was all thanks to you :) It is a great feeling, I can't believe how quickly my stamina is building up, 2 weeks ago I was out of breath running to catch the bus, and that was like 150 meters :)

I second Mimi!! I'm up to two km without having to stop, but if I skip a few days it is rough going for sure.
ReplyDeleteI had my best time for 5k - 37 minutes and 15 second. I'm absolutely amazed. It took me almost an hour to do that when I started. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteI did the kilometer on Monday - it seems like it took me so long to get there - running 1k without walking. Thanks for the motivation!
ReplyDeleteI did my 1k. It was hard but awesome! My ankles and calves and shins are really sore though. will that get better?
ReplyDeleteYes! It will get better. It's most likely the growing pains of a running body breaking through!
ReplyDeleteUh oh - I realized last night that my ipod isn't calibrated properly. The 5k I thought I did in 37 minutes, was actually at 4.6k. That seems like a lot to be off! I googled it and found out how to calibrate to hopefully get a better reading. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI did my first 1 km last night - and I can't believe how relatively easy that came. Two weeks ago I thought I was going to die after 500m and now I could still breathe after 1 km. Yey!!!
ReplyDeleteI did my 1km today! After an difficult week of a sick family, a quitting nanny and problems with my business I did it anyway! I am very proud and excited! Thanks for the support.
