Dear rookie runners

Until Nike changes their page, I can't run this thing. It's been great seeing your progress. Make running a priority and great things will follow. I thought about it yesterday when I went to the gym and looked at myself in the mirror - half an hour of running 3 times a week (on average) has changed my body making it tighter stronger leaner.

And that's not even why I run! I run because for 24 hours post running I feel so good. Sometimes, most times, it even feels good during the actual run.

If you're there, you know what I mean, if not you'll get there, if you just keep on running.

Dear Nike people, this new site, it does not deliver.
I've kept two running blogs up, all built around nike+ challenges.
WHere did the function to post challenges on external blogs, such as
blogger blogs, go?
Is it still there, only I can't see it/find it?

Curious greetings

Ok so perhaps not last week

Many of you seemed to think 5km is not possible yet. So let's extend the 5k dream a little.
How about trying to reach 5k by Christmas or New Years?

Try to think about it this way: If you keep running, even slowly, for 30 to 35 minutes, you'll make it. When it gets tough tell yourseslf you only have to run for a minute. Also keep in mind that you're getting stronger every time you go out running.

Last week!

Everyone run 5 k.
Then we're done over here and you can join us over at Run with E.
Are you all into running now? Yes? No? Does it still suck or are you into it? Did your bodies change?

Curious greetings

Hellena K, lina_2111 and nutmegfitz, we're cheering for you!

New challenge!

Couldn't make it 3,5 kms, so you have to run 4. But you can do it. At worst, it's another 10 minutes of running after you've run 3.

Hellena! Snabbsko! Johanna V!

You can do it! You don't have to be fast, just get out that door!

Rookie running in Canada -Gillian

Gillian runs with us in Canada. She writes "I live in Canada, so it's starting to get cold and rainy. In combination with all my schoolwork, I've completely lost motivation for running. But this week I'm hoping to force myself to run. Wish me luck!"

GIllian, I'm cheering for you. Go running go running. You'll clear your head and it's always better to be inside if you've been outside first.

rookie running in Melbourne -Zoe

Zoe runs with us in Australia. Here's what she says:

Here is my picture. Its the Yarra River in Melbourne. I did my 3ks! It varied between feeling so easy, and feeling like my feet weighed a ton. I'm going out now to do it again! my reward is a new running singlet- in preparation for summer.

Rookie running in New Zeeland -Josephine

Josephine runs with us in New Zeeland. She writes:

I run in Wellington, New Zealand, often with my friend Helen (in red) who makes me run faster and longer. She's going to make me run up that hill behind her! But I like to think of our hearts getting bigger and stronger pumping all that blood around when we run. Thanks for helping me to learn to run.

-Josephine.

Rookie running in San Francisco -Dawn

Dawn runs with us early in the mornings. This is what she sees. She writes:
I like to run on this street because it has wide sidewalks and is fairly flat. I also rarely have to dodge vomit, feces, syringes, or discarded mattresses (as opposed to the routes closer to my house). I run in the morning with my silent partner, my husband (possibly the only man in the group). I am not really a morning person, so it helps to have someone to motivate me at 6am.

We're all cheering for the two of you getting up in the morning darkness to run with us! We'll be running in the dark too soon. Darkness is approaching fast these days.

Love from Sweden

Rookie running in Uppsala -Hellena

Helena runs with us in Uppsala, about an hour north of Stockholm, Sweden. She writes:
This is where I run, well, part of my run. Since Uppsala's so flat I LOVE the fact that I have found a hill, and that the view is spectacular on a fine day (however, the day I took the photo it was grey and icky). I don't expect to see much more of this this season though as the sun, as of today, has already set when I get home from work.

YES!

Congrats all you 3km runners! You're doing it and I'm so proud of you!
This is how we'll work on this.
This week and next week, I want you to get the 3km smooth and nice.
Then, after that you'll add 500 meters each week until we're running 5 k.
That's in less than 2 months. You'll be able to do it. You're strong and healthy. You were made to run.

love
-e

ps. If you've run or are trying to run 3k thinking you can't run as fast as whoever is fastest in this challenge I want to tell you this: Let that thought go! You're competing against yourself. When you started this, did you even think you could run 3k nonstop? Every meter or yard is progress. Be proud of yourself! Reward yourself!
